I think that I like it better without the front bumper. Actually, when I first took the picture, I didn’t notice. It only became obvious after viewing the picture later.

Yeah, it looks better without the original bumper.
Matador was born when the safety bumpers had been just introduced. I’m pretty sure that the earlier designs had quite a lot slimmer bumper variation.

You can definitely tell it was designed without much consideration for the 5mph bumpers, otherwise they would have been better integrated from the start.
I would think this example is closer to Dick Teague’s original intent, though he would have at least specified a thinner chrome bumper.
